Roppongi Hills, Minato-ku, Tokyo, December 2003

Roppongi Hills is a huge shopping, office and hotel complex developed in Roppongi Area by Mori Building Co. It opened in April 2003, and has become a new tourist spot of Tokyo. Its Christmas light-up of 2003 was especially striking around the Keyakizaka Avenue, which devided the complex into two areas. 300,000 blue and white lights surronded the 400m-long avenue.

"Tree of Stars" was produced by a singer Mika Nakajima.

Main tree of 2001 was surrounded by blue dolphins, which were contrasted nicely with a red heart-shaped tree-top.



"Shinjuku Southern Lights", Central Tokyo, December 2000

The whole area to the south of Shinjuku Station showed plenty of illumination in December 2000. Eastern boardwalk alongside the railway featured "Circus of Lights" with illuminating objects, such as an elephant and a clown. Western area, "Southern Terrace", was called "Forest of Lights" with trees covered with colorful small lights. The contrast between the light-ups and the skyscrapers of Shinjuku area was magnificent.

Main tree of 2000 was decorated with lights of three colors. Odaiba has become the most favorite place among the tourists to Tokyo.




"Tokyo Millenario", Business District of Central Tokyo, December 24, 1999 - January 1, 2000

The beautifully illuminated arches were designed by an Italian art director, Valerio Festi and extended along a street in the middle of a business district near Tokyo Station. The event was held again in December 2000.




Ebisu Garden Place, Uptown Tokyo, December 1999

Ebisu Garden Place is a large shopping, restaurant and hotel complex, which is located in a posh area of Tokyo.
The main ornament for 1999 was a big chandelier that a French crystal company, Bacarat, owned.

Main tree of 1998 is decorated with optical fiber.
The combination of a main tree, smaller trees (in rainbow colors), the Rainbow Bridge and the Tokyo Tower present a futuristic view of Tokyo.

Illumination of 1998 featured a manufacturer of carbonated drinks, Tango. The lights were in orange color to represent the best selling "Tango Orange"

Illumination of 1997 featured a French fashion brand, Yves Saint-Laurent.




Trafalgar Square, Central London, December 1997

Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square is donated by Norwegean people every year to appreciate British soldiers' support of Norway in the Second World War.

Illumination of 1996 featured a British writer Enid Blyton's 100th birthday.





L'Avenue des Champs-Elysées, Paris, December 1996

One of the most gorgeous light-ups of the world extends alongside the avenue of more than 2km long and 100m wide.
